Riedel Sommeliers Rheingau Single Glass (P/N 4400/01). This elegant, tulip-shaped glass with a slightly flared top was first developed in the 1960s by Claus Riedel. It shows off the character of white wines from more northerly regions to the best possible advantage.
These light, dry wines, combine high acidity with delicate fruit, make for highly pleasurable drinking when served in this beautifully designed glass. The tulip shape at the rim causes the tip of the tongue to unconsciously curve up, so that a stream of wine is delivered straight to the sweetness-sensitive taste receptors, emphasizing the fruit.
Limited Availability. Riedel Sommeliers glasses were praised by Robert Parker as "The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes. The effect of these glasses is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make."
